Paul Gascoigne Admitted to Hospital After Health Scare

Paul Gascoigne was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at home.

The former footballer, aged 58, was discovered in a semi-conscious state by his friend Steve Foster, who then transported him to the hospital. Gascoigne was initially admitted to an intensive care unit and later transferred to a medical unit. The Sun newspaper has reported that his condition is now stable.

Foster, who is also Gascoigne's driver and personal assistant, released a statement expressing Gascoigne's gratitude for the support he has received from old friends who wish him well and hope for his recovery.

"Paul is currently in the hospital, the best place for him to be at this moment," Foster added.

Gascoigne is considered to be out of immediate danger but is expected to stay in the hospital for several days.

Throughout the years, the former England player has faced health challenges and battled alcohol addiction.

This health scare follows Gascoigne's recent remarks to The Mirror newspaper, where he mentioned feeling better than he has in years and expressed hope for a more positive outlook on his past experiences.

In anticipation of the release of his upcoming book "Eight", named after his shirt number during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, Gascoigne has shared that the book will provide an honest and uplifting account of his life story.

The book, set to be released in the autumn, follows Gascoigne's autobiography "My Story" from 2005.

Gascoigne, who earned 57 caps for England and played for various clubs including Newcastle United, Rangers, Middlesbrough, Everton, and SS Lazio, has faced personal challenges that have often overshadowed his sporting accomplishments in recent times.

These challenges include legal issues, rehab stints, and a high-profile divorce from his wife Sheryl in 1998.
